Southern Hills Church in SE Sioux Falls is seeking an Administrative Assistant to play a key role in the day to day activities of our church. Administrative Assistant Purpose: The Church Administrative Assistant is a part-time position responsible for working with church members and staff to achieve the church’s mission. The administrative assistant extends the ministry of Southern Hills to our staff, our members and the surrounding community. The administrative assistant reports directly to the senior pastor and staff parish relations committee. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, be committed to personal spiritual growth, and believe in and demonstrate the church’s vision of “Making Disciples and Making a Difference.” Skills: Organizational skills Strategic planning and administrative oversight Ability to coordinate an office of paid staff of 5 Ability to coordinate volunteers within the church Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and ability to learn church proprietary software Take minutes at church leadership meetings Assist in development and execution of annual strategic plan Maintain and administer Safe Sanctuary Policy Coordinate background checks for prospective employees and volunteers Administer policies and procedures concerning the use of church facilities Effectively work with users of the church facilities Effectively work as liaison with renter (LSS) Foster communication within the entire church organization Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships Ability to: Interpret and fulfill Leadership’s objectives and directives Meet deadlines, develop and execute program policies and procedures, manage changing and competing priorities and projects Tactfully and discretely handle sensitive and confidential matters Gracefully handle unexpected or difficult situations, people and conflicts Effectively communicate verbally and in writing Manage maintenance of facilities and preparation of “to do” lists Complete and file accurate and timely government and church reports Effectively manage time to carry out day to day workings of the church, be punctual and consistent in attendance, be available for evening committee meetings Represent church in community and annual conference meeting Oversee and coordinate church newsletters and other communication media (i.e. social media, televisions in the lobby) Prepare presentation for Sunday morning services on Pro Presenter Produce weekly bulletins Other duties as assigned To apply please submit your resume and a statement of faith to connect@sohillsumc.org
